Games in three days · Malmö, 28 to 30 August 2026

Two Talata squads crossed the bridge for the last weekend of August. Malbas Madness runs across four halls in Malmö, and we played clubs from Sweden, Denmark and Spain.

Coach Jordan Naughton and Coach Deng Awak split the squads across two halls. On the Saturday morning two of our games tipped off in the same minute.

The U18 / U19 squad

Five games. Two wins, both against IK Eos Lund.

Who we played

Nine games against eight clubs: Lucentum Academy (Alicante), IK Eos Lund Vit and Grön, KFUM Kalmar, Malbas BBK and their second and third sides, Helsingborg BBK and Hovedstadens BF. Host club Malbas ran the tournament across Baltiska Hallen, Stadionhallen, Heleneholms and the Baltiska träningshall.

A note on the brackets

Swedish tournaments seed on birth year. Danish leagues seed on how old you are on 1 October. The two disagree on purpose, so the squad we call U15 at home entered as Boys U14 in Malmö, and our U19 entered as Boys U18.

The girls travelled too

The girls squad we coach alongside Stevnsgade made the trip and played four games in the same age bracket as our U18s. Three Talata benches, two halls, one weekend.

What a weekend like this is for

Nine games in three days does something that a season of Tuesday evenings cannot. Players find out quickly what holds up and what does not, and they find it out next to their teammates rather than in a coach’s notebook.

We are back on our own court on Monday. Every fixture this season is here.
